Latest in Beauty 'The Glamour Beauty Edit' Box Opening and Reviews.

Hey Guys,

I never been a subscriber or ever purchased a beauty box, purely because I can't afford it right now, but it's something I've always been interested in. When I saw this box on my friends Instagram I had buy it because it contained three products I've always wanted to try. I've had this box for nearly 2 weeks now and haven't touched any products yet because I wanted to not only show you whats in the box but also a review from first time use kind of thing. Whilst giving these reviews I'm literally testing as I write.

The box I bought was from 'Latest in Beauty' which is designed to let you try before you buy kind of deal. Although this box they have created by pairing up with GLAMOUR magazine and have picked the ultimate party must haves to get you through the party season. If you want to check them out you can here. This box cost me £14.95 +P&P and it's products are worth £65 what a steal!

The box itself is a lovely sleek black box with gold trimmings with all the products nested on a shredded paper layer, all sealed in a lining of tissue paper with a gold sticker. Worst description ever, but what I'm trying to say is the packaging is really nice and presented beautifully.

Once you've opened up the tissue paper all the products are laid out waiting for you, theres 7 products in total which is a bargain for the price you pay. There are also two cards in there one which is a note from Alessandra Steinherr (Beauty Director, GLAMOUR magazine) and a short run down of what the box contains. The other card is special offers of the products in the box if you wanted to go on and buy full size ones. Heres what the box contains and my initial thoughts...

Toni&Guy Glamour firm hold hairspray 75ml I haven't used this one yet because I'm not a big everyday hair spray user but the packaging is like a caramel colour which is nice. The smell of the spray is surprisingly pleasant as I find some just smell like plastic and vodka mixed together. I normally use hairspray for when I curl my hair and I tend to spray it on my hands first then scrunch into my hair. When I spray this on my hand it doesn't feel sticky which is a good sign and the smell left is kind of fruit and soapy. Overall I'm quite excited to use this on my hair and I'll get back to you on how it goes.

Philip Kingsley One More Day dry shampoo 50ml This is a little smaller than the hairspray bottle but a very good handbag size for on the go. The packaging is white with reddy brown writing and it doesn't really smell of much unlike normal drugstore dry shampoos. As soon as I sprayed it on my roots I noticed it does leave a light residue, which actually works for me because I'm blonde so it makes my roots less dark. It takes a while to work into the hair to reduce the lightness it leaves, so far I wouldn't recommend for people with darker or coloured hair. It does say what is says on the tin nevertheless and leaves the hair looking and feeling fresher. For me though I'm sticking to my trusty favourite Girlz Only Dry Shampoo (review here) for now.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Hydration I'm quite fond of the Baby Lips from Maybelline and already own Peach Kiss and Intense Care. I really like the pink on blue packaging for the Hydration stick and the smell reminds me of gummy bears or those kind of gummy sweets. The product is clear with no tint to the lips like some of it's sisters in the range. It glides on nicely to the lips and it's not too waxy which is nice although I'm not sure about the smell now it's on the lips. It's a nice little product to hydrate the lips especially through the winter months and it's fun packaging is cute too.

balance Me extra care radiance oil 10ml This is a product which is very new to me, I've never used a face oil before. It says it's suppose to 'smooth away the years' and you apply it morning and night either before moisturising or leave alone to give the skin back it's radiance. It has a rollaball applicator and the smell isn't the most pleasant but has that organic product smell, hard to describe but it's not offensive. Application is easy although for me it takes a while to sink into the skin and feels a little greasy. I'm not sure what one application will do so I'll have to get back with a proper review after a few uses.

The next few products are the reason I bought the box and have been so excited to use!

Eyeko Lash Curlers Lash curlers are a big tool in my make-up bag although I've never spent much on them just £1 from Primark! They've always done the trick and I thought why would more expensive ones work better, surely theres not too much difference. These curlers are silver with blue silicone rubber pads and blue velvet handles. On first use they feel a bit smaller to what I'm used to and the handles feels odd but a good odd. The curl they give is really nice and they don't pinch like my Primark ones. Overall a nice tool which does feel nicer than my cheap Primark ones and these are not too bank breaking either at around £10-£12.

Benefit they're Real mascara 3.0g I have always been a Maybelline falsies gall and really enjoy using it although this is a mascara I've always had my eyes one. I've never purchased the Benefit one because mascaras can be very touch and go to finding the right one for you, so I wasn't going to risk buying this at around £17 for it not to work. I'm a little in limbo with this one as it's really nice, drys quickly, easy application and the results are amazing although I would say at this point it's just as good as my Maybelline the faslies. I'm going to have to do more experimenting with these to see which comes out on top but I can definitely see why people love this Benefit mascara so much. Although my dad at dinner did ask if I was wearing false lashes so I suppose that kind of says something haha.

Last but not least this is the main event for me and the main reason I bought this beauty box!

HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette in Foxy I have had my eyes on this for so so long but could never part with my money to get it, I know it's only around £20 but for me that's quite a lot. I got sent the 'Foxy' palette and from sight it's looks perfect for me. What I really like is that it's designed for brows but can be used for a smokey eye and all the shades are matte. These days I find most palettes contain mostly shimmery shades and little matte so this is great. The shadows to touch feel quite creamy yet with a powder consistency and highly pigmented. Although once touched with a brush they are like a thick powder constancy. On my eyebrows I used the light brown colour and loved the results. I also used them to create a kind of smokey eye although the colours are very pigmented so not really suitable for the day but when I do a night time look this is my first point of call. I am so happy I've finally got this in my life.

Heres a look I created using all the products from the box..

I hope you've enjoyed my unboxing and quick reviews of each product. I will be reviewing a few of the products in full so don't forget to follow my blog on Bloglovin for that. Also if you follow me it gives me a chance to check out new blogs and which I love doing!

I would love to hear in the comments below if any of you have used any products mentioned above and what you think of them?

Handbag Therapy.

Hey Guys,

Today I thought I'd share with you something which is kind of a big deal for me. To normal folk this will seem a little crazy so I bring it to my fellow beauty/fashion bloggers for support! I have been using the same handbag since January, just a standard tan coloured tote bag from Dorothy Perkins. I think it cost me like £15, but it has probably been the most stable thing in my life since picking it up. Yes I might sound crazy now. I normally chop and change a handbag like my outfit whether it's buying new ones or recycling old, I simply just love handbags. So for me to use the same handbag for nearly 11 months is a big deal and I'm quite attached. Now let me start making sense of why this post is viable. I recently got a job and graduated (yaaayy!)(see post here) so my mum bought me a new black handbag from Zara as a congratulations gift. I technically picked out the bag as a Christmas present but she gave it to me in the mist of celebrations. I love it, it's beautiful, although coming to transfer my thing to it, I'm having a bit of separation anxiety from my trusty tan tote. Yes I am definitely crazy. Is this normal, can someone help me out here?

Anyways to make it easier for me to change bags I'm going to do a 'What crap have I got in my old bag and needs sorting before going into my new bag' post!

Here is all the crap in my old bag..

Purse, shopping list pad, hand sanitiser, post it notes, 2013 diary (which I haven't written in since March), mini impulse spray, broken Rimmel stay matte powder, headphones, a hair tie, a broken mirror, digital camera, Elephant make-up bag, Kalms tablets, Twinnings detox tea bag, Vaseline lip balm, Ibuprofen, empty NIVA lip gloss, SMINT mints, keys, hay-fever tablets, travel tangle teezer, nail file, a CD which I have no idea whats on it, gloves, notepad, curlers, reusable bag, pencil case, umbrella and a comb.

This is probably why I change bags so often, it's the only time I clear them out!

Now for my shiny new bags entry! Drum roll please..
(just to point out I'm struggling to get my lighting right now it's not sunny in the UK)

This is my new Zara bag, it's from the basics range called 'shopper with rings' and cost £39.99 you can find it here. They have so many nice bags at Zara at present but I like this one because it's got that sturdy shape unlike my tan one which is very flimsily. I'm not sure what material it is but it's so so soft. As you can see it's black with gold hard ware with a zip pocket at the front it's handles are perfect for forearm resting and just big enough for over the shoulder, but I wouldn't be so sure with a big coat on, although it does have a longer strap for the shoulder but I'm not sure if I like it. Inside it's all one big compartment with two small pockets on one side but no zips. What I quite like is you know nowadays bags have a phone pocket which is never big enough, this bag has one wide almost sleeve where my Iphone 5s fits perfectly.

Here's whats been decluttered and put back into my new bag and really the essentials I always carry around.

With all the odd bits neatly in my elephant make-up bag.

I don't tend to carry around a lot of make-up because I just chop and change depending to what I'm up to and what I will most likely need, so it tends to be the lipstick I'm wearing, an eyeliner and powder.

Well I feel so much better with the changing bags process, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Thank you blogging your therapy service has been amazing. Now all my stuffs in the new bag I love it even more and so excited to get out there and use it! I still feel quite sad leaving my tan bag behind but it's been a pleasure my old friend and I will never forget you.

I hope you've all enjoyed this post driven by my madness, although I must apologise that the pictures aren't to clever, I need to play about with what lighting I can get where in my house. I'm also going to try and get an outfit post done this weekend featuring my new handbag so you can see it better.

I hope you have that Friday feeling and have a good weekend, I'll be back tomorrow with a special post so stayed turned and don't forget to comment and follow!

Review Thursday: Coconut Oil

Hey Guys,

Today I'm going to give my review on Coconut Oil. Now this isn't brand specific because the one above was quite expensive at £6.99 from Holland & Barrett which you can find here.  Although recently I found a cheaper one from TESCO which is primarily for cooking but makes me think if it's good enough to eat it must be good enough for my other needs.

I have been using coconut oil for about a month now for cooking, hair and skin. For cooking I use it for everything instead of Vegetable or Olive oil and it's great and makes food taste that little bit better. It's good and safe for fast high heat cooking, apparently it's better for you but I need to do more research on that.

Onto my beauty uses, I use it on my hair and skin. Coconut oil is suppose to be very hydrating for dry skin and hair but it can also promote hair growth.

I'll point out now I have very sensitive skin and after many wild diagnosis I have this rare form of 'folliculitis' (the doctors think!) which I've had for over 5 years, so I am very wary of what I can use on my skin. The oil is in a solid form but melts beautifully in the palms of your hands which just sinks into the skin. It can feel a little greasy when you use too much so it's trial and error of how much you need, but a little goes a long way.

When using Coconut oil on my skin, mostly on my legs and especially my shins. I started using the product after a shower to keep the moisture in my skin and really deeply hydrate it. After one use I was amazed my skin felt so soft and considering it is so dry and tight before I was amazed, since then I have used it everyday before going to bed. My skin is ultra soft and for the first time in years my skin condition seems to be improving! Absolute miracle! I'm not going to say it will work for everyone but give it a go and you may be happily surprised like me.

The third use is on my hair. I've been using this as a mask to try and hydrate my hair, my hair is very long and very thick so sometimes feels a bit worn. I got a small amount in my hands and gently melted it in my palms then smothered my hair, I also massaged it into my scalp. I then put it up in a towel and left it for several hours, I was going to leave it over night but I didn't have time the next day to wash it out. Although when I washed the oil out my hair instantly felt thicker, it was a little bit flat until the second wash but now it's feels so healthy and nourished. I have also read on the web that it promotes hair growth but that could be on regular use, so I'll have to update this if it has but I don't plan to use it everyday just weekly or every two weeks as a mask.

After reading more uses for Coconut oil I was amazed at how many useful beauty and medical tips there are. I strongly recommend getting your hands on some, for me it's amazing and it's quickly becoming my best friend.

I hope you've enjoyed reading how I use/ review on coconut oil and it's come in use for you. Please leave a comment below if you have any questions which I may have missed or if you've used it and have any helpful tips for me?

Graduation!

Hey Guys,

As the title suggests this is about my graduation. On Thursday 21st November I had my graduation ceremony in Southampton where I graduated with a 2:1 in Advertising. It was an absolute manic few days but it was truly amazing. Along with graduation I was spoilt with gifts by my parents and best friend as well as being quite overwhelmed with the amount of people who wanted to celebrate with me. My brother also purposely came back from Oz for the ceremony which absolutely made my day. Then to top off an amazing day and night with my closest friends and family I got a call Friday where I was offered a job in a Digital Marketing Agency. It took a long while to process all that happened which is why it's Monday and I'm only just posting this haha. Here's a few snaps from the day..

I don't want to babble on about my university experience (unless you want me to) but if you have any questions feel free to comment or email me. Although I just want to say a few words on why this was such an achievement for me.

University you learn so much about yourself, you change and you grow. I changed quite a lot from college to uni, at the start I was very hostile, emotional and a very negative person. Although after four years living with different types of people, having responsibilities as well as freedom it really does develop you as a person. I won’t go into it too much but after dealing with a lot emotionally and high levels of anxiety I have changed my perspective on things. I now look for what good can come out of something bad and how could I do things differently to avoid negative situations.

University was something when younger seemed completely out of reach for me as I wasn't very academic, I was always told through school and college that I would struggle. Although my determination to succeed and for a career got me through. I was never someone who knew what they wanted to do with life but after going to university and studying photography for a year, I realised what was actually available to me which led me to advertising. I've always loved adverts and loved seeing why they work and how they work. The lecturers where amazing at Southampton solent and were always bending over backwards to help you. They have helped me find something I'm truly passionate about and filled me the knowledge in able to have a career. I'm so excited to get into the industry and although Southampton Solent University doesn't have the best reputation it has inspired me and made me realise that with hard work and determination you can achieve anything.

I understand university isn't for everyone but don't let anybody tell you you can't do something. If it's something you are truly passionate about, stay focused and keep going, you can do it. University has been the making of me. I found out who my real friends are as well as meeting some of the best. Although cliche I know who I am now and who I want to be, it is an experience I will never forget and will treasure for the rest of my life. This blog post marks the end of my university chapter and the start of something new.

Ok so I definitely babbled on a bit..opps. I hope you've enjoyed reading this and didn't get too bored! If you want me to talk about my uni experience more, show you what I got given and about my knew job then leave me a comment and I'l be happy to write about it :). Until next time...

Catch up with me: Volume.2

Hey Guys,

I can't believe it's been a month since my last 'Catch Up With Me' post already, if you missed it you can catch it here.

November is a month I've been looking forward to since about June. I could tell from back then it would be a fantastic month and so far it hasn't disappointed. From the very first day of November I found out the best news, sadly though it's not my news to share just yet but it will be very very soon!

In the last post I mentioned I was working as a free intern but sadly at the end of that week I quit. I felt I was wasting my time when I could be searching for more relevant roles paid or unpaid. The main problem I found was that I didn't get any signal where I worked, the travel was a pain and because I was so dependant on my parents it was just so stressful but not in that work buzz kind of way. That kind of stress I love. I also wasn't doing anything relevant to my career goals and what was suppose to be a marketing intern I ended up being an office organiser and creating the products sold.

Once I finished at that place I went into full find a job/internship mode, applying for jobs all day every day. The main one which came back was a fairly local digital PPC account manager, which seemed perfect and what I actually want to do! I got called to interview, then called for some tests, then called back again for further tests and talks about the role. In total I had nearly 8hours worth of interview time, which all sounds very promising. I'm expecting a phone call tomorrow of whether I've got the job or not, all things are crossed and I'm sure there will be something on my blog about it! This could be the start of something very special for me and the first step into my career. I want it do bad.

October 2012/ October 2013

Later this week I have my graduation ceremony, Thursday to be exact! I.am.so.excited. Obviously this meant I had to go shopping which I did in Portsmouth with my two friends who are coming down to Southampton to celebrate with me. Although it's Monday the ceremonies in 4 days..and I still don't have an outfit. I'm having an absolute mare finding that perfect outfit. This is really annoying me as well because I've hit my weight loss target which I wanted to reach for graduation, yet still can't find anything to wear. So frustrating.
I'm not dwelling on it too much though because I'm one pound off my two stone mark which just feels incredible. I haven't been this weight since I was about 14/15 so at 22 I'm so happy! I'm not going to go on too much about my weight loss though because I think I'm going to do a separate post on all that very soon.

I also mentioned in my last catch up I said my brother was returning from Oz, well he's back! yay. Although as you can imagine he's very grumpy, not loving life back at home in the cold English weather. It's nice for him to be home though.

I think that's all I've been up to recently just totting along waiting for that call for someone to employ me haha. I can't wait to get working and get a routine. Oh to be a busy bee, some peoples hell but that's really when I thrive!

I hope you've enjoyed catching up with me, I'll leave a few links below of some posts you may have missed. How is your November going?

Hey Everyone,

Today's post as the title suggest is I have been nominated for the Liebster Award. I can't really say I knew what this was but love the idea around it of introducing new blogs so so happy to be nominated. Review Thursday: Girlz Only Dry Shampoo

Hey guys,

Today I am going to give my review on the 'GIRLZ ONLY' dry shampoo party nights. This is a product I came across a couple of years ago when browsing the beauty isle in TESCO and lets just say I was like a magpie. The packaging is amazing the bright shimmery hot pink metal container printed with pale white flowers just caught my eye and it was officially love at first site.

Lets talk about why I love it so much. I've never really got on with Batiste I've always felt its left my hair feeling tacky and powdery. I've also never got on with the smell, like that fake fruit smell, it's just not for me (although I haven't used it in a good few years has it got better now?). After buying this mainly because of the pink shiny magpie effect, I really did love it from first use. The smell is quite sweet like a perfumed scent but not chemically, it almost reminds me of Charlie body sprays. It doesn't linger though and isn't strong just a nice pleasant mist of scent.

Once sprayed onto the hair it doesn't leave any visible residue and doesn't require too much rubbing in, which is always a bonus. All I do in spray onto my roots quick rub in and I'm good. My hair instantly feels revived and less greasy, it also leaves my hair feeling super soft, almost like I've just washed it.

Bottom line is it's a must try the smell, packaging, results and the price are just unbeatable in my eyes. I haven't seen this on sale in many shops but I have spotted it in New Look and TESCO, although I mainly buy in TESCO for £1.50. Much to my surprise when looking to add a link in for the post I found out theres different types of this dry shampoo, the one I have is called 'Party Nights' so they stick with that kind of theme with 'Hazy Days' and 'Dawn till Dusk'. There is also one for brown hair and blonde hair, the rest of the range looks great although I've never seen them in shops. The main one which did catch my eye was 'XXL Volume Plus' although theres no product description if it does what it says on the tin like 'party nights' it's worth a try. Anyways you can find them all here!

Has anyone else used these dry shampoos and love them as much as me?

Don't forget to follow me on here and Bloglovin for updates :)

November Wishlist

MAC 266 Brush/ China Glaze 'Just Be Claws'/ Lush Shampoo Bar/ Clinique Chubby Stick 'Grandest Grape"/ New Look Mint Green Christmas Jumper/ L'Oreal TXT Spray

I am so happy it's November, this month holds so many exciting things for me but all about that on another day! I do love November though because we are official in the cold weather and I'll be honest I do love the winter weather, wrapping up warm and darker make-up.

My wishlist this month I would say is my most varied yet.

Lets start with the Mac 266 small angled brush. I already have an old little angled brush which my mum gave me years ago, so I think it's time to invest in a nice one for myself. I've always used my angle brush to fill in my brows although I want to start experimenting using it for liquid/gel liner so a nice new brush is needed,  I would say.

Next is a polish from China Glaze called 'Just Be Claws'. I love this shimmery deep red, it's like the perfect colour for winter especially Christmas.

The odd little bar in the top right corner is a shampoo bar from Lush. It's a blend of rosemary, nettle and peppermint which is supposed to give the hair shine and stimulate hair growth. Although my hair is already long it doesn't grow any more than it is now and in an ideal world I would like it another inch or two longer.

I've been a big fan of the Bourjois colour boost lip crayons all summer so thought I might branch out to a higher end lip product. I love the deep colour of this Clinique chubby stick in 'Grandest Grape'.

Christmas jumpers are a must these days and although I will definitely be investing in a novelty one wearing one a month prier looks a bit keen so I love the wintery/nordic style jumpers. I especially love this New Look mint green one, I think it would look cute tucked into a skirt or with high waisted jeans.

Last but not least a hair product by L'Oreal the Studio Line TXT Texturising spray. I am still on the hunt for a good (cheap) texture spray and not having much luck so I might give this a cheeky try!

(I've added the prices if there newish and should still be available in shops.)

Review Thursday: Maybelline Super Stay 24hr Foundation

Hey Guys,

It's Thursday again and product review time! This weeks product is a foundation from Maybelline. I am a found user of Maybelline foundations and in the past I've always used the 'dream satin liquid' foundation. Until recently I started to noticed it really wasn't performing like it used to. Whilst in Superdrug one Saturday I came across the 'super stay 24hr' by Maybelline and thought I'd give it a go because the Mayblline colour match has always been good for me. I bought this one in shade 021 Nude.

I'll start by telling you what the foundation claims to do. It describes as a 'Micro-Flex Formula flawless wear foundation non-transfer day & night' it contains SPF 19, suitable for all skin types and the obvious it's 24hr lasting power. It comes in a glass bottle, plastic lid and white plastic pump. So far all sounds good to me.

I don't want to start with a negative but it's the only one for me so it's only uphill for here! So the negative is the smell. The only way I can describe is if you were a 90's kid and can remember those gummy, plastic aliens that you put in the fridge to reproduce..yeah..it smells a bit like that. It's not crazy over powering and doesn't put me off because the smell doesn't transfer onto the face.

The formula is quite thick, liquidly and dries very quick, so working quickly is a must. I tend to apply it with my fingers for everyday use so blending it round my face works fine for me. Although when I'm going out clubbing or for dinner and want a more flawless finish I use the Real Techniques buffing brush. These work really nicely together but because the product does dry quickly you almost have to do your face in two halves. This method uses a lot more product than when you use fingers but it does give a great flawless finish so the pros and cons weigh out I guess on this aspect.

I have quite dry skin especially on the sides of my nose and chin but between my brows and around my nose can sometimes be greasy. On the face I feel the foundation sinks into my skin and just stays puts but gives a brilliant coverage and smooths out my skin. It gives quite a matte finish but not at all cakey and although I said the formulas thick it doesn't feel heavy on the skin. I also find comparing to the satin liquid foundation when building up with powders, blushes etc it doesn't effect the foundation. As sometimes I found with the liquid one it left my bronzer more orange and cakey.

All round I really enjoy this foundation and find it such an easy safe product to use, the kind when you look in the mirror 9hr's into the day and you know your foundation is still giving a good coverage. So thumbs up Maybelline! At £8.99 I would say it's a pretty good drugstore foundation, if you want to check the colour range you can do here

Has anyone else tried this foundation, or can suggest any other good similar price range foundations?
